Diet Debates

With the dawn of fitness “influencers” comes the many, many debates about what diet is best. In my opinion, there is no debate. The best diet is one that suits your specific needs and goals. Though I am a fan of intermittent fasting and bouts of keto; I must admit that certain demographics should steer clear (I’m talking to you, anorexics/bulimics!) Following a high protein feeding program may seem beneficial to many……….unless you have kidney disease of some sort! Meat only…..veggies only……..organic only….all have positive attributes associated (especially when you seek out only the info that you WANT to hear), but there are some downsides to these things as well. Cost, energy demands, and genetics may all play a role in the effectiveness of any so-called diet. I know it’s easy to jump on trend while striving for the body you hope to have, but, stop and think before you dive in. If you have not addressed your personality type, discipline levels, stressors, schedule, finances, and current health, you might be starting something you can’t finish, or simply cannot sustain. Failing to get results (sometimes by no fault of your own) can do more harm than good. Maybe not in the physical sense, but definitely in the emotional and mental sense. My advice is to STOP taking everyone’s advice! Know the qualifications or testimony of those who are doling out programs and walk away from instructors or influencers that do not ask you a ton of very detailed questions. The ones invested in seeing you achieve your desires are going to take the time to get to know you, and won’t set you up for failure.

Your body is smart. It knows what it needs. If food isn’t fueling or energizing you, then a change needs to be made.
